“Liminal Air” is an installation of approximately 123,000 white threads in the Queensland Art Gallery. Each strand varies in length and hangs from the ceiling, creating a cloud-like entity, which can be crossed by the visitors. Shinji Ohmaki. (Video here)
Watercolor I did in art class over a two week period.
I started drawing random people that I know in there, just to add more variety and to keep myself from getting too bored. Some people ended up looking completely different than they do in real life, because I wanted to put put more racial variety in there, or I thought that someone with dark hair would have better contrast in one spot, etc.
I was also listening to Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue on loop like the entire time i was making this. Thinking back, that’s probably why I decided to make it a city scene.
